The Finance Act, 2017 inserted Section 139AA to the Income Tax Act, 1961 mandating lining of Aadhaar number with PAN w.e.f 1.7.2017.

The AADHAAR Act, 2016 for Targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services got assent of the President on 25th March 2016. Under the Act an individual who has resided in India for a period or periods amounting in all to one hundred and eighty-two days or more in the twelve months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment is eligible to obtain Aadhaar.
